God opened the door at my home church as Associate Pastor and Youth Pastor in 1999. During this time I finished my Theology Degree and began my first Pastorate five years later. In 2019, I have served at Mt Tabor for five years. Mt Tabor has been a blessed experience with very loving believers.

Stephanie Brown, Youth Leader

God has given me a heart for youth. I want to show them the unconditional love of Jesus. I have been working with the youth at Mt. Tabor in some capacity since 2013. When the leader position came open, I felt God calling me to step up. Today's youth are bombarded by so many false truth. I want to show them the real biblical truths of hos God loves them just as they are, made in His perfect image.

My father, who was my pastor the first 32 years of my life, led me to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ at age 7. As a music minister at MTBC, my goal is to use the talents God has given me to bring glory to God. I believe the Lord is at work here in an amazing way and am excited to be a part of it.

From the Pastor

Pastor's Pen

My name is Rev. Troy Crain. I felt called to the ministry soon after I gave my life to Jesus Christ. I preached my first message at the age of 19. I married soon afterward and began to raise a family. I made some attempts to get a minister's education but was frustrated in those attempts. Years later, after some success in manufacturing, I still felt the call. I was busy in church but was not at peace, so I asked God to put me in the ministry or free me of the burden of the call. Months later I became the associate and Youth Pastor at my home church in Anderson. I finished my degree three years later and this year marks my 20th year in ministry.

Mt. Tabor Baptist Core Beliefs

Bible

We believe the Bible to be the complete Word of God.

  • The 66 books of the Old and New Testament were inspired by the Spirit of God as originally written
  • The Bible is the final authority in all matters of faith and conduct

God the Father, Jesus Christ, & Holy Spirit

We believe in one God, Creator of all, holy, sovereign, eternal, existing in three equal Persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

We believe in the absolute and essential deity of our Lord Jesus Christ

  • In His eternal existence, with the Father in pre-incarnate glory
  • In His work of creation, in His virgin birth, sinless life, substitutionary death and bodily resurrection
  • In His triumphant ascension, mediatorial ministry and personal return

We believe in the absolute and essential deity, and in the personality of the Holy Spirit

  • Who convinces of sin, of righteousness and of judgment
  • Who regenerates, indwells, seals, sanctifies, illuminates and comforts those who believe in Jesus Christ
  • Who baptizes believers at conversion into the Body of Christ and bestows upon them His gifts sovereignly as He wills and fills those yielded to Him

Salvation

We believe that Adam was divinely created in the image of God

  • That by the sin of disobedience he fell from that state
  • That all his posterity inherited spiritual depravity and defilement
  • That all men therefore are guilty before God and condemned to physical and spiritual death

We believe that salvation is by the sovereign grace of God

  • That by the Father, Christ voluntarily suffered a propitiatory death
  • That justification is by faith alone in the all-sufficient sacrifice and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ
  • That those whom God has effectually called shall be divinely preserved and ultimately perfected in the image of the Lord
